Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your initial appointment we will spend some time getting to know each other and going over your health history as well as laying out what your goals for acupuncture are and a treatment plan. Then we will get you onto the table. The majority of the time you can keep your clothes on and simply roll your pants up to your knees and shirt up to your elbows. We will insert anywhere from 10-30 needles and let you rest for about half an hour. Then we’ll get your needles out, talk about your experience, and get you scheduled for your next appointment.

  • Our goal is for you to be able to relax so comfort is key. Wear clothes that are loose and can easily roll up to your elbows and knees. Try to be well-hydrated and eat something light before hand.

If you are coming in for facial rejuvenation acupuncture a clean face with no makeup is preferable.

  • This can vary depending on a lot of factors, like how long you’ve been dealing with your condition and how severe it is. Generally speaking, the longer you’ve been dealing with something the longer it’s going to take to resolve. Many people will notice changes within the first few treatments. Often we will want to see you more regularly at the beginning and then once we have you feeling better we can taper off. We will discuss this at your first appointment and come up with a treatment plan together that is tailored to you.

Community Acupuncture is not eligible for insurance coverage but in many instances it costs close to the same or less than your out of pocket costs.

Please note: for ASH and most Cigna plans we charge a $40 non-covered services fee per a pre-disclosed agreement in addition to your copay/coinsurance. These carriers only cover limited acupuncture - we’ve found that this fee is necessary to provide an appropriate level of care.

  • Yes, I am very proud to offer care to our nations Veterans.

To set up an appointment, first contact your VA doctor and ask for an authorization to see Katherine Kampmann at Hey Moon Community Wellness. Once that authorization comes through we can begin treatments.

  • Unfortunately, no. Medicare won’t cover a licensed acupuncturist providing acupuncture. Community acupuncture is a great lower cost option for Medicare patients.
